How WritWork works
City building inspectors write repair orders at specific addresses every week — roofs, porches, wiring, plumbing. The owner is legally required to fix them, and most have no contractor lined up. WritWork pulls those orders from the city's own public data, sorts them by trade, and turns them into a lead list for you.

Create your account
Pick your city and your main trade — it's free, no card. Inside, open Settings to add the rest of your trades (there are 15 categories), set your home base address, and choose how far you'll drive. Your matches are filtered to exactly that.

Read your Matches
The Matches feed lists properties where the city has ordered repairs in your trades, newest first, with the distance from your base. Each row shows what was ordered and flags owners with a long record of ignoring the city (“slow payer history”) — those rarely hire anyone. The Working tab keeps the ones you've flagged.

Open a property
Click any row for the full picture: how many orders are open in this batch, the property's violation history back to 2006, its compliance track record grade (A = owners who fix things, F = owners who don't), a “before you drive out” warning when the history looks bad, a map of the address, and what the inspector actually wrote — their own words, not a summary.

Trust, but verify
Every order links straight back to the city's own data service. “Fetch this record from the city yourself” opens the city's copy, and Re-check with the city re-pulls the record live so you know it's still open before you drive out. We never ask you to take our word for it.

Find the owner (Pro)
Owner contact isn't in the city record — so Pro accounts get a one-click skip-trace: we pull the owner's name, phone and email from public records and cache it on the property. Matches run about 70–80% accurate, so verify against the county assessor before relying on one, and follow the TCPA / Do-Not-Call rules if you call or text. Businesses registered at the address show automatically under the property header.

Show the owner what it costs
Every property shows what the city can charge the owner for leaving the orders open — an estimate built from that city's published fine structure, with a clear “estimate, not a quote” note. Under it is a ready-to-say script you can copy straight to your clipboard: what the orders are, what the fines could run, and the ask. It's the fastest way to turn a lead into a conversation — “the city can hit you for this; I can fix it for less.”

Work it
Mark ‘working on it’ to pin a property to your Working tab, or Hide property to drop it off your list. The Map button (and the map panel on desktop) gets you to the door.

Bill the job
Landed the work? Bill this job emails an invoice to whoever hired you — owner, manager or GC — from your company name, with the reply going to your inbox. The “what it's for” is pre-filled from the property's own repair orders, and you can attach your own payment link (Stripe, Square, anything) so they can pay online. Sent invoices are tracked on your Company page — mark them paid when the money lands.

Run your company
The Company page holds your business profile (license, insurance, payment link), your sent invoices with an outstanding total, and your team: invite crew members (they see the matches feed) or admins (billing and team too), set their passwords, remove them any time. Settings also has a morning email digest of new matches and a CSV export for your CRM.
